Laptops on Level 1

Check out our new laptop unit located on Level 1 through the glass doors. There are 24 laptops to borrow for 3 hours and are for library use only. If you need assistance, please call to the Information Desk.

Digital on Demand

The library is currently offering a ‘digital on demand’ service for library material digitization requests.  This service is free of charge and available for staff and all Postgraduate students (Research and Taught).  Digital on demand refers to some material which cannot be borrowed or if you cannot physically make it to the library on campus.

How does it work?

  • Items can be requested using this form
  • Upon submission of a request you must accept our copyright declaration stating that you only use the content in support of your remote teaching needs for the duration of the Covid-19 situation, that you only host this content on MU controlled access education platforms e.g. Moodle and MS Teams and that you only use this copy for non-commercial research, teaching or private study.  You must also permanently delete the copy if requested to do by the Library or the copyright holder
  • Once the library receives the submission, library staff will create a scanned copy of the requested article or book chapter and this will be emailed to the requestor

Our Supporting Online Teaching & Learning Guide is designed to provide you with all you need to assist you while working and studying off-campus. We have an extensive range of online supports and services available to all our students and staff. Wherever you are, this guide will help you find out what's new, what's always been here and how to get in touch for further help. Our online resources and supports continue to be fully available.

This guide will provide full details of the services we offer. Please see the contents listing on this page to find out more.
Please use our online services and content first and consider carefully if you need to avail of our on-campus services.
Face-masks must be worn in the Library at all times.

Studying in the Library

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 you must not come to the library.
Pre-booking is not longer required for study spaces. Our one-way system will not be in operation, meaning entry and exit will now be via the turnstiles. There will be limited capacity and it will be based on a first come, first served basis. Once at full capacity, access will be denied until an exit is registered on the system. Access to the library remains restricted to registered MU staff and students. Please note if you need to leave the building for any reason you must take your belongings with you as re-entry is not guaranteed. Study spaces will continue to be available in the John Hume building.
