Accessing Other Libraries

ALCID

ALCID is a co-operative access scheme between the libraries of Dublin City University, University College Cork, National University of Ireland Galway, Maynooth University, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Royal Irish Academy, Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, University of Limerick, Mary Immaculate College, Mater Dei Institute of Education, St Patrick’s College Drumcondra, Dublin Institute of Technology and St Angela’s College Sligo.

ALCID provides full-time academic staff, academic-related staff and registered students reading for postgraduate degrees with reading access to the collections of each of the participating libraries.
Your ALCID card must renewed at the beginning of each academic year. Before visiting a library, it is advisable to check their website for their opening hours, access requirements and other local conditions. You will also be asked to show your Maynooth University card when you visit another member Library. 

SCONUL

Maynooth University is a member of SCONUL Access. SCONUL Access is a co-operative venture between most of the higher education libraries in Ireland and in the UK. It enables staff, research students, full-time postgraduates and part-time and distance learning students to borrow material from participating libraries. It also provides for a reference only service for full-time undergraduate students. 

Accessing Other Libraries

Staff and students of the Maynooth University and St Patrick's College, Maynooth may use other Irish university libraries to consult material not held in the Library.
Undergraduates, Postgraduate Diploma and Higher Diploma students may apply online for a letter to consult material in another library. This is usually a letter of introduction valid for one-day. It will be available within 24 hours of application.

InterLibary Loans

The Inter-Library Loan service (ILL service) / Resource Sharing, provides access to material required for research that is not held in the libraries at Maynooth University and St Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth. The ILL Service endeavours to source this material from other libraries worldwide. If you have searched LibrarySearch and the Electronic Resources collection and we do not have a book, journal article or other material you require for your research, we can apply to another library for the item.
