Using OER - for students

Silhouette of man standing on top of a hill, successful. Photo by Scott Webb from PexelsWhat are the benefits to YOU, if your lecturer uses an OER (Open Educational Resource) textbook or resource in your module?

  • Low cost (printing only) or no cost (online use); saving you money on textbooks / required reading costs
  • It will be modified to suit your specific module
  • Your lecturer may use the resource in class to co-create content, thereby increasing your information skills
  • OER use is linked to student success (retention, completion and cost savings to you)

Remember! ALL the content in MU Library is FREE for you to use while you studying in MU, so make sure you access the eBooks, eJournals and access to databases in your study. OER provides an alternative, non-traditional way for your lecturer to create customised content for your class, in additional to the millions of free resources in MU Library that you already have access to. Start your search for relevant information on your subject with MU Library's Subject Guides first.
