Open Access Publishing Agreements

American Chemical Society (ACS)

This guide provides details of open access agreements with publishers facilitated by IReL (Irish Research eLibrary) which typically allow corresponding authors from eligible institutions to publish their articles open access immediately on publication.

NOTE: - Quota has been used up for this year.

"OA mandates: please be aware that many funders (including Research Ireland) mandate that a version of the article be immediately available from the date of publication with a Creative Commons CC-BY license. If OA via the IReL agreement is not available to an author (such as when the limited OA quota runs out), ACS will levy author-facing fees to allow them to comply with funder mandates. This will be either a $4,500 article processing charge to make the published article OA, or an “article development charge” of ($2,500) to allow the author accepted manuscript be posted in a repository with a CC-BY license and without and embargo. Research Ireland grant funds may not be used for such fees in hybrid journals ."
