This guide provides details of open access agreements with publishers facilitated by IReL (Irish Research eLibrary) which typically allow corresponding authors from eligible institutions to publish their articles open access immediately on publication.

Agreement details

The open access publishing agreement with AIP allows corresponding authors from Maynooth University to publish articles accepted for publication in selected AIP hybrid journals (subscription journals that may include OA articles) without the author paying an article processing charge (APC). 

In addition, the agreement gives members access to current content and backfiles from selected AIP Publishing hybrid journals.

Eligible authors
At the time an article is accepted for publication, the corresponding author must be a current staff member or student of Maynooth University.

Authors must correctly identify affiliation with Maynooth University.

Eligible article types: primary research article, review article, perspective article, tutorial article. 

OA publishing license: eligible articles will be published under a CC-BY license. Authors retain copyright, while granting the publisher an exclusive license to publish. Further information here. 

OA quota per year:  2023 - 30 articles allocated across the participating institutions on a first-come-first-served basis.
